How do i warm up when singing?
I usually warm up for between 5 and 10 minutes. I do different exercises to warm up my head voice, chest voice, and mixed. Head voice warm ups work on the higher, lighter part of your voice. Examples might be singing "Who" on five notes (G F E D C) for every key as high as you can go or singing "Ha ha ha" on the root, third and fifth of the key (C E G C G E C) as high as possible. Chest voice works on the lower, heavier part of your voice. Examples might be singing "Oh" and sliding back and forth between two lower notes in your range (e.g. Bb C Bb). Mixed voice is a combination of the two, you might sing a slurred scale starting with a low note and going up high (Bb C D Eb F G A Bb C Bb A G F Eb D C Bb).

The object of these warm ups is to strengthen the different muscles used when singing and make your voice more pliable.
