Who thinks that the Dixie Chicks need to avoid anymore political dramas? Maybe just shut up and sing?

i feel like their album only sold well because of their political drama. no radio stations play their music. personally i think they should stick to singing, but the drama worked for them. -shrug-

Oh give me a break! Treason for what? It isn't treasonous to speak your mind in this country. Remember freedom of speech???? Report Abuse

Reply:No, obviously they don't- they just won 5 grammys in case you haven't noticed. Have you been living under a rock??

Elizabeth- So you agree that Toby Keith shouldn't be so open in his supporting Bush and the war? HE just shut up and sing too, right?
Reply:I kinda sorta agree with you. People are paying good money to see a performance, not to listen to some political rant.

On the other hand, I totally agree with them. Bush and his cronies are evil.
Reply:I agree with what Elizabeth said, No one plays their music on any radio stations in Texas, they haven';t done any concerts. they voiced there opinion, and they have the right to freedom of speech, but to say what they did , is uncool.
Reply:If you prefer them for their musical ability then you continue to do so.
Reply:More than that, they should just go away. They have proven that they are anti-American and should never be supported by the public in any way. They are liberal communists and should be thrown in jail for treason.
Reply:Many celebrities (Kanye West and Michael Moore, notably, in addition to the Chicks) use their fame to promote their political beliefs. It's almost to the point where you aren't just allowed to be a fan of a person's body of work - you must also back their platforms.

I respond by not financially contributing to those celebrities that are the most vocal in their politics (whether I believe in what they're saying or not) by not buying their music, going to their films, or whatnot. If they want to be in politics, they should run for office, not record albums.

And a note about Toby Keith, in response to the message above: I haven't heard as much publicity about him because I think country music sucks donkey cojones, but he and Rick Schroeder should stick to what they know best also.
Reply:They sure did win a lot of Grammys even though they haven't toured and no radio stations will play their new music. I heard people are still buying their album like crazy! Go figure!
Reply:Not me...who says they can't say what they want????? This is AMERICA, isn't it???
Reply:They were right in the first place. They got 'hammered' in a 'free' country which allows both sides of the argument. They stuck to their 'guns'. They picked themselves up off the floor, and now can hold their heads high. That's freedom! How fickle people can be. My hat's off to them.

People jumped off the 'bandwagon' because it was wrongly thought that Geo. W. was a 'hero'. The heroes died in the WTC. The heroes are dying in Iraq, thanks to W. He was no hero. he was and is a liar, and it's been proven conclusively. A lower than 30% rating for doing his job speaks volumes. Being honestly wrong is one thing. Fabricating 'evidence' as he did would be serious trouble for anyone in a court of law. He is and will be judged. 'nuff said.
Reply:Me...shut up and sing...
Reply:I agree, they are just 3 citizens at that point with the right to free speech but their opinion has the same value as mine
Reply:wow. you really believe in freedom down in your parts dontcha?
Reply:I dont even care if they keep singing.
Reply:that is how they are staying in the public eye (15-minutes of fame) and possibly on the charts.
Reply:yup i agree why would i go to A celebrity for political advice that's like going to a plum er for medical advice
Reply:no one likes blondes!
