A songbird ( not a pet ) just showed up in the tree in the front yard and continues to sing?

I live in a pretty urban area and it gets no response from other birds ( never really heard other birds that much anyway ) did I mention it started ay 11:00pm -- and has gone for 2 hours ( and counting ) Are there any folk tales or omens I should watch for ? or any other explanation ?

They say small song birds carry the souls of the dead to the after world. Know anyone who's close to death? Dead? Wish they were dead? :-D The wren is said to have tricked the eagle into flying higher than the clouds and when the eagle tired the wren was full of energy and stole the title of highest flying bird from him. Small song birds are also seen as symbols of joy/happiness and good luck. It depends on the species and what culture you're from. Most societies, though, see birds as messengers of the gods/God.

From a biological sense it sounds like it's a male protecting his territory. He'll be a pest for most of the warm season, which can be a good or bad thing if you enjoy or hate his company. He may even have a nest with chicks he may be feeding.

You're one lucky guy!

Reply:Lol! Have you tried shooing it away? Don't kill it though. That's not nice.

Reply:kill the beast
Reply:A song bird that shows up is just that....a song bird. The explanation is that it either lives in the area and decided your yard is a good place to sing for a while, or it is migrating through and stopped in your yard. If it is looking for a mate and is not getting a response, it will probably try somewhere else.

What does it look like?
