If fox hunting is necessary because they are vermin, why do fox hunters dress up, sing tally ho and enjoy it?

I KNOW, LETS HUNT THE TALLY HO TOFFS DOWN, LIKE THEY DO THE FOX.....THEY ARE SILLY SELF INDULGENT SADISTIC TWITS, WHO LIKE TO PONCE ABOUT COS THEY HAVE A FEW QUID. I WORKED WITH A VET WHO RODE IN THE HUNT.....A NASTY LITTLE WINO SHE WAS TOO !!!!
If fox hunting is necessary because they are vermin, why do fox hunters dress up, sing tally ho and enjoy it?
Perhaps Yahoo Answers should get a former foxhunter to come along and answer this question, as most of us haven't taken part in one.

I witnessed a hunt as a teenager and was shocked by the noise and pomp. Just to kill one small fox!

I guess some would say it would be part of the ceremony and tradition. But then again, we used to have slavery and the ruling classes were vehmently against having that outlawed.
Reply:P.E.T.A. people eating tasty animals
Reply:Because they can't get no satisfaction from their women.
Reply:It's what the farmers and landowners called them then allow foxhunters to let their hounds to kill them.
Reply:I don't agree that it's a class thing. I used to hunt and I am a nurse. People from all classes go to a hunt meeting. Galloping with loads of other riders is glorious, especially that the fox is not the prey now.

And please don't accuse me of being a sadist, I enjoy drag hunting just as much.

I hope that some day the "sport" of fishing is banned
Reply:The same reason Bush dressed up in a flight suit and flew a jet out to a ship that was within eyesight of the California. They're playing dress up and pretending to have qualities, such as courage, that they don't actually have.
Reply:The fox isn't vermin at all!!! A lot of humans are but we aren't that cruel to them. The hunters enjoy the chase, sport they call it. Spiteful, over payed barstewards !!!!
Reply:Tradition
Reply:Good question.
Reply:It's British class system thing. If you aren't on their fox hunt you don't count! The British have always been full of pomp and arrogance! Why quit now?
Reply:Because they needed an excuse for their disgusting behaviour, and the vermin line was probably the best they could come up with.

You're quite right - pest exterminators don't act like that when dealing with mice, rats and cockroaches (i.e. real vermin) - at least not to my knowledge.
Reply:Fox hunting is cruel and barbaric.

I worked with an avid fox hunter once, the guy was a complete little git and loved boasting about how "Country People" knew where it was at and "Town people" should kep their noses out etc.

He just enjoyed putting his tight jodhpurs on and torturing animals, sick little ****.

If they enjoy "hunting vermin" there's a load of rats round the bins at the back of our local Kebab shop they can have a go at if they like.
Reply:i agree flippin posh toffs they get on my ****, they dont chase sea gulls or rats in this way (shame cause that'd be a laugh too)
Reply:well they have to so they can distract the foxes hows that for you?
Reply:They dress up as it's the uniform for the days sport. At a Pheasant shoot we wear tweed breeks and matching jacket. The tally ho is optional!! Support your local hunt.
Reply:Sexual fetish?
Reply:It's a class thing!
Reply:Doesnt everyone get dressed up to go on a killing spree then?
Reply:Upper class idiots highlighting what we already know.
Reply:We have a fox in our neighborhood. He's pretty cute, he looks like a little cat.
Reply:Its nothing to do with it being necessary, as you have said, they enjoy it and it is a tradition-thats why they do it.

With the amount of human vermin on our streets, i would have no problem with them hunting them down but foxhunting should be outlawed.
Reply:I have really enjoyed the very varied answers to your interesting question - which has brought out the good and bad in a lot of your replies. Star question !
Reply:Because they're lying!

When the Brits took over Australia in the late 18th century they sent over the 'ruling classes' to keep those convicts in order.

However, many of them became homesick and one of the ways they tried to make themselves feel at home was to import foxes over to Australia so they could hunt them.

Unfortunately, many of the native species in Australia had not evolved to fend off a predator such as the fox and because of this they are now extinct on the mainland, though fortunately still alive and kicking on the 1,000 islands which surround Australia and which were cut off from the mainland 10,000 years ago at the end of the last ice-age.

In short, if fox hunters kill foxes because they were vermin, why would they import them into Australia? Answer: Because they enjoy chasing them!
Reply:It is all 'One-up-man-ship', and 'I'm part of the gang and you're not'.

We have youth by us that all wear white, and as the night goes on their uniform turns green and brown where they have been rolling around on the ground (they don't shout Tally Ho! though).

Purely Gang membership.

The danger with the 'Fox Gang' is that amongst them are decision makers and 'Old Boy' net-workers.
Reply:God I know where you're coming from.. how can they sit their on their high horses whilst making killing into a sport?! its completely not on grrrr just thinking about it makes me angry!!!
Reply:Because there all a bunch of sick over privileged freaks!!

Bet they wouldn't like being chased by a bunch of people with guns shouting tally-ho
Reply:All I know is,When I watch Fox News I want to dress up and hunt down the vermin that work in their "news" room. As far as tallying up Ho's,whats not to enjoy?
Reply:because its sport or so they say.
Reply:Park rangers sometimes have to kill certain animals to keep the numbers at a manageable level and to prevent the other animals from starving due to an overwhelming amount of a certain animal. This is usually solved, however, by selling hunting permits and letting “dressed up” hunters kill those animals for them. The permits are limited and the amount of animals any one individual can kill is also limited for that hunting season. I don’t know much about fox hunting but it’s probably the same idea. You can pay people to kill those animals or you can have people pay you for the “privilege” of killing those animals.
Reply:Stop being such an inverted snob. You lot destroyed the only fun that was to be had in the counties of Suffolk and Kent. Fox hunting was good and so is shooting which hasn't been banned thank God.
